Galentine’s Day is one my favorite days of the year. Why not celebrate the best Galentine in your life, your daughter! I’m sharing everything you need to have a fun party with just you and your mini me’s.
I love love love Galentine’s Day. In honor of Leslie Knope, it’s one of my favorite holidays of the year. Usually, my sister and I host a fun party for all our girlfriends but that isn’t happening this year for a few reasons.
First, I am about to pop out our little dude so it’d be hard to waddle around playing hostess with the mostess. Second, we are casually in a global pandemic and parties are not encouraged. So, here’s to Galentine’s Day 2022!
But, you can check out three of our Galentine’s Day parties to use for inspiration this year or just to dream of parties again.
However, I couldn’t not do something this year and it seems Olivia has inherited my love for themed parties. We decided to have a mommy and me Galentine’s Day party and it was so fun.
Galentine’s Day Snacks
No party is complete without good snacks or at least, yummy desserts! Depending on how many little ones you have at your party, you might need a lot of snacks or just a few. I always err on the side of more snacks.
Here are some delicious ideas for your party that are also perfect for kiddos to help make.
- Cupcakes. We got a sampler of adorable and delicious cupcakes from a local baker in Columbus called Cupcakes By Lindsey. If you are local, you NEED to get some treats from her. You can also bake these semi-homemade funfetti ones!
- Unicorn Poop. I made this for Olivia’s third birthday party and I’m always looking for a reason to make whip it up.
- Mock Sangria. This fruity drink is non-alcoholic and so delicious. It’s also something your little one can make too because the steps are super simple!
- Chocolate Dipped Oreos. Make Oreo’s better, dip them in chocolate and cover in sprinkles. This is a fun snack for kids to make and you can adjust for any holidays or even birthdays.
Activities for Galentine’s Day
I actually used one of these activities (MASH) for our Galentine’s Day party. I think my sister bought them off Etsy, but you could go old school and just use a notebook. This would be a super fun activity for older girls!
Here are some of the other activities we did at our mommy & me Galentine’s day.
- Decorate Heart Stress Balls. Thank you Target Dollar Spot! We decorated these squishy heart stress balls and O is obsessed with hers. I think they were $3 for 2 including the markers.
- Foam Heart Valentine’s. I got various heart stickers, sticky felt hearts, and foam hearts from Dollar Tree. We decorated them for each other but you could also make them to mail to friends, family, etc.
- Read Valentine’s Day Books. We picked up a few Valentine’s Day themed board books so we read all of those during our party too! You can snag them here on our Amazon list, they are all under $10.
- Have a little spa day. Scroll down to see how we made a mini spa day in our living room!
- Turn on music or a movie! We opted to just turn on some dance music on our Amazon Show because it’s her favorite. You could also play Parks & Rec to really get in the Galentine’s Day spirit.
Also, just spending dedicated time together is a great way to celebrate Galentine’s Day! You can keep everything low key and just celebrate together.
You can also shop our entire Galentine’s Day list here on Amazon and just get everything delivered straight to your front door. It include activities, decor, candy, and clothes because every party should also have themed outfits.
Also, it might go without saying but I’m going to say it anyways. You could throw an intimate or small Galentine’s Day with kiddos of any age! My daughter is four and it was a fun little day with just the two of us before her little brother arrives.
But, you could easily celebrate with your sisters, nieces, best friends daughters, cousins, or neighbors! There is no limit to who you can enjoy Galentine’s Day with – it’s just all about celebrating ladies.
Toddler Friendly Spa Day
I saw a local nail place hosting a mommy & me BOGO offer and instead of spending $70 on manicures for the two of us, I spent $50 on activities and made a little spa day at home! Here is everything you need to add a spa element to your Galentine’s Day.
- Foot Spa. Joel actually bought me this when I was pregnant with Olivia! You can snag a similar one right here on Amazon if you don’t have one.
- Bubbles. I added some Dr. Teal’s lavender bubble bath. We use it for bath time but O loved have it bubble up while soaking her feet for her pedicure.
- Nail Polish. We are big fans of Piggie Paint over here. This four pack is $9.99 at Target and has all the Valentine’s Day colors you need!
- Makeup. We stopped at Target before our fun day and picked up some clearance makeup. Olivia loves to do her makeup and I let her do my lipstick. Pro tip: be aware if it’s a color stay lipstick before letting a four year old put it on you.
- Lotion. Olivia loves a good foot and leg massage and has since she was a baby. I had just bought a stress relief lotion from Bath & Body Works but you could pick whichever is your favorite!
We painted our nails, did our makeup, soaked our feet, then did a foot + leg massage and it was so fun!
In years past, I would generally buy very on theme outfits for our Galentine’s Day parties but this year I found some comfy clothes for us that were still cute for the holiday!
Olivia opted for a unicorn Valentine’s shirt and cozy heart decorated sweatpants. I also have some cute outfits linked here on our Amazon storefront if you want to get a custom outfit!
But, I do highly recommend my sweatshirt for this party or just in general. It’s from one of my favorite woman owned businesses, Jam Threads. She has some amazing Valentine’s Day outfits too!
Galentine’s Day Decorations
I didn’t go crazy with decorations this year since it was just the two of us. If you check out the posts from previous years, you can see what I’ve used in years past.
This year, I picked up some cute balloons from Party City, edited my letter board, and let Olivia grab a few things from the Target Dollar Spot. She chose a fake succulent, a little candle, and those window gel stickers.
There you have it, a 2021 Mommy & Me Galentine’s Day! We still had so much fun celebrating each other, enjoying some treats, and having a mini spa day.
If you host your own mini event, be sure to tag us on social so we can see how cute it is. Happy Galentine’s Day!
