I’ve rounded up some of the best places to purchase maternity clothes in Columbus! Some are local, some are national and I threw in some online stores too for good measure.
When I was pregnant with O (5 years ago!), there were so many options for maternity clothes in store. Blame it on Amazon or online shopping or what have you, but the in store maternity clothing shopping game has definitely changed!
However, I have found a few great options here in Columbus, Ohio where you can actually try them on and get them at an affordable price. Let’s start with the local to Columbus options because that’s where I found the best variety!
Columbus Only Stores
Clothes Mentor. I put a question out on my Instagram story for where to go in store to purchase maternity clothes and an overwhelming amount of folks suggested Clothes Mentor! This Ohio based company ” sells gently used name-brand and designer clothing, shoes and accessories for up to 70% off of original retail prices.”
They have four locations in Columbus – Westerville, Gahanna, Upper Arlington, and Dublin. Plus, two in Toledo! You can see the actual addresses here.
I’ve been to the Westerville location and pictured here is the Upper Arlington location. I personally preferred the Upper Arlington location and felt like it had a way better maternity selection.
Their prices were super reasonable, the shirts are mostly $6, my pants were $8 and $12 and the dresses were $10-$14. Plus, they have a Rewards program you can join and we went during a sale so everything was 20% off in the store!
Also, they buy clothes too if you are looking to get rid of your regular or maternity clothes. Details on that are here.
Marigold Curated. This is one of my favorite little shops. Jolie (the owner) “started with her love for the hunt of a great second-hand find.” Located in Clintonville (3045 Indianola Ave.) in the same strip as Studio 35, Marigold sells curated items from clothing to housewares to kids books and more.
The great thing about this shop is that the inventory is always changing so you can pop in to see what she has in stock. Plus, she is always sharing new items on Instagram so be sure to give her a follow.
My younger sister (not pregnant) loves a good shopping trip so she tagged along and got a great pair of Hollister jeans for $15. I snagged a sweater, jeans, and all those goodies for O. Kid converse for $12? Yes, please.
You can also visit thrift stores like Goodwill or Ohio Thrift. I didn’t find a great selection at Goodwill, but those are definitely options too!
National Stores
When I was pregnant with O, the Gap at Polaris was getting rid of their maternity section and everything was on sale. It was amazing. Now, they don’t have a maternity section in store, not amazing.
Here are the stores in Columbus that I’ve found have small maternity clothing sections!
- Target. We have roughly 11 target stores in the Columbus vicinity and the three (Polaris, Sawmill, Easton) that I’ve visited all have very small sections. As I’m writing this, it’s September so there are a handful of shirts, a few dress options, leggings, and a few jean selections. I will say that I love the shirts! They are form fitting, a soft fabric and usually on sale for $11 each when you buy two!
- Walmart. I haven’t bought any maternity clothes from Walmart but a few folks messaged me on Instagram and said they have a small section and are super reasonably priced!
- Kohl’s. I’m also not a huge Kohl’s shopper – the price structure stresses me out – but some folks have mentioned they have a good selection in store! We have several in Columbus so I might need to grab a few things and update this post!
- Macy’s. Another one I haven’t tried personally but know they have a selection in store! I would probably only get something from here if I had an event to go to or needed something a little nicer. I live for comfy during pregnancy… and non pregnancy.
Online Options
I personally prefer to shop in store. I like to try the clothes on myself and make sure they fit – I like instant gratification. But, there are a TON of great online options to purchase maternity clothes. That could actually just be a whole other blog post.
But, for now here are a few great online options for you.
- Stitch Fix. Okay, I had no idea they had maternity clothes! If you remember, I LOVE my Stitch Fix. I might give the pregnancy one a try because I feel like I’d probably love everything in it. If you give it a try, you get $25 off your first Stitch Fix box!
- Motherhood Maternity. I ordered a bunch of stuff from here (see below)! I haven’t gotten it yet, but I’m very excited because I got a pair of leopard leggings and I will probably live in them til February. They used to have a retail shop at Polaris, but it closed a few months ago unfortunately.
- Amazon. This is probably the number one place that people said to purchase maternity clothes. The only item I’ve bought so far are these shorts for $18 which are actually pretty comfy. I plan to buy a few more things and will make that a totally separate post. For now, you can shop my Maternity Essentials list on Amazon.
