La Hacienda de San Angel is a must visit at Epcot in Disney World! This Mexican restaurant is authentic, delicious, and family friendly.
I love love love Mexican Food. Since Epcot at Disney World is full of fairly authentic food in each of the countries around the park, I knew I’d want to head to Mexico for a meal.
There are a few different options for a tasty meal, one is inside this super cool pyramid building and has terrible lighting. We chose the La Hacienda de San Angel which sits on the water and has flawless lighting.
Watch the fireworks at La Hacienda de San Angel in Epcot.
Pro Tip: If you want to watch the fireworks on the lake from here, get here a little early and ask for a seat by the window. Then, order a round of margaritas and wait for the show.
The Disney Dining Plan can be super great.
We were still on the Disney Dining Plan for this meal, so we got to each pick an appetizer, entree, and dessert at La Hacienda de San Angel. Seriously, so much food. But, also so awesome because The Beard and I actually like (and hate) totally different things so this gave us the chance to get our own items without having to share.
I chose the guacamole topped with pepitas, poblanos, and corn and it was marvelous. You can actually pick a variety of other toppings like pomegranate and mango salsa!
La Hacienda de San Angel menu details.
The Beard got the gordita’s filled with chorizo, potatoes, and arugula. I’m actually not the biggest fan of these types of corn cakes because I usually find them kind of dry. The Beard was highly satisfied with his decision though so it doesn’t matter what I think because it wasn’t my appetizer.
Entree time! It was so hard to pick what I wanted because literally everything sounded amazing. The Beard chose a New York strip steak “dusted with pumpkin seed, garlic and Habanero pepper, atop a Tequila-butter Cascabel pepper reduction.”
It was “served with roasted tomatillos, onions, chiles toreados, grilled queso fresco, and corn mashed potatoes.” I’m actually not sure why I haven’t tried to recreate this meal, or at least the corn mashed potatoes. Delicious.
This little bowl of goodness is braised short ribs topped with Chimichurri on a (large) dollop of potatoes and (my FAVORITE) chile de árbol sauce. I imagine I’d like to enjoy this on a chilly afternoon cuddled up on the couch instead of 90 degree weather in Disney World. But, it was still pretty delicious.
Oh, just a reminder that our little Baby O was actually quite a doll during this meal. For people worried about bringing babies to Disney World, don’t!
She did amazing, learned so much, and make some really great memories for The Beard and me. She’ll like the pictures when she’s older.
*Update. She is now 3.5 and LOVES to look at pictures from this trip*
My little tasty bowl of comfort came with a side of rice and beans. These were nothing to write home about, but they were a nice little addition to the entree. I was actually feeling a little under the weather during this meal, so the extra carbs were a welcome side dish.
Remember how I told you we were on the Disney Dining Plan? Well, here is the reminder because we both got to choose a dessert after those meals.
We shared both of the desserts because we could actually agree on them. These are the nieves, traditional Mexican sorbets served alongside a crispy cinnamon sugar tortilla piece. I think that they change these flavors every so often, but we had strawberry and mango which were just delightful.
This pretty looking dish is an empanada de manzana or an apple filled puff pastry, fried to perfection and topped with cajeta (caramel sauce) served alongside dulce de leche ice cream.
It was sweet, filling and pretty beautiful. If you aren’t on the Disney Dining Plan for this meal, it’s still pretty reasonable priced at $15 – $35 per person.

I agree the mashed potatoes were totally awesome. I wish I had the recipe. The steak was awesome. The margaritas were wonderful. The food amount was massive. Too much to eat it all. Great service.
