We partnered with Gorton’s Seafood to bring you this afternoon snack hack. They have compensated us for this post, all thoughts and opinions are our own.
You guys already know that we love Gorton’s Seafood around here. We’ve written two recipes using their easily prepared and delicious products. Find those here and here! But, this time around you don’t even need a recipe for this awesome product. Heck, you don’t even need ketchup for these fish sticks!
Not sure if you all know this, but we have a pretty awesome schedule with O due to the flexibility of our jobs. I (Hannah) work from home in marketing and Joel works part-time for Whole Foods Market as a butcher. My stepdad watches O three days a week while Joel works and then she stays home with us the rest of the time! Don’t mind me while I cry about her going to preschool in the fall.
The reason I’m telling you this is because sometimes we just need easy snacks that will appease this little eater when she gets home around 3pm. Toddlers need calories, y’all. This is where Gorton’s Seafood Fish Sticks coming into play!
Gorton’s Seafood fish sticks are the real MVP.
We always have a bright yellow bag of their fish sticks in our freezer when the moment of hunger hits for O … and us. As much as I want to nourish her little mind with fun activities, I want to do the same with the food she eats! A few facts about Gorton’s Seafood and why we incorporate this type of protein into her diet.
- High quality, sustainably WILD-CAUGHT Alaska Pollock
- Flash-frozen at the peak of freshness to lock in full flavor & nutrition
- 100% WHOLE FILLET FISH with: no fillers, no preservatives, no artificial colors or flavors, no hydrogenated oils, and no antibiotics
- Good source of Protein
- Natural Omega-3βs
- Only 3 ingredients (fish, breadcrumbs, oil)
I don’t claim to be a nutrition expect by ANY means, just a mom who wants to feed her daughter well. Here are some more tips on incorporating seafood into your kiddo’s diet from the USDA. I will say that we serve our fish sticks on the patio with a side of coloring and O could sit out here all day long.
Okay, okay, so a serving size might only be four fish sticks and I might have made more so I could sneak a bite or two. I get hungry too and I could actually eat these fish sticks all day any day. They are so flaky and delicious, especially when you toss them in the air fryer (my fav, obviously). I think part of the reason we (especially O) loves these fish sticks more than any other is because they are made with whole fillets of Alaskan pollock, they aren’t minced and mushy.
The fact that she loves these so much impresses me because I’m pretty sure Joel and I didn’t start eating fish until our 20’s, oops. But, hey if she likes to eat something full of protein to keep her fueled up to run in circles on our patio, I’m not going to stop her.
We'd Love To Hear Your Thoughts on This Recipe!
