Jump to RecipeGarlic Pasta = Best One Pot Dinner
I love a solid one pot dinner, especially when it’s super scrumptious like this garlic pasta dish. It only has a handful on ingredients and is perfect on its’ own or topped with grilled or crispy chicken.
Here are the five ingredients that you need to make this one pot dinner that is going to be your new favorite dinner.
- European Extra Virgin Olive Oil. See below for some fantastic details on why European Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a great choice.
- Pasta. We used bucatini for our dinner, but you could swap for your favorite noodle.
- Garlic. You can use fresh or dried garlic, whichever is handy for you. I honestly didn’t feel like chopping the garlic so I used dried and it was just as delicious.
- Chili Flakes. If you don’t loveeee spicy pasta dishes, I would do just 1/2 – 1 teaspoon instead of 1.5 teaspoons.
- Salt + Pepper. I consider these one ingredient. Use fresh cracked pepper for extra deliciousness.
Why choose European Extra Virgin Olive Oil?
A few fun facts about why European Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the best.
- The olive tree has been revered in Europe since antiquity. Over thousands of years, farmers have evolved hundreds of varieties of olive trees (cultivars) and optimized them for different environment conditions and terrains to produce the most delicious yields.
- The greatest impact on taste is the type of olive tree (cultivar), region (which affects climate and soil) and time of harvest. Europe offers a vast array of flavor profiles, so keep a variety of oils in your pantry for different occasions.
- Olives harvested early in the season, late August (varies by region), are under-ripe and produce oils that are greener, more bitter and pungent.
- Olives harvested at the end of the season, late November into December, are overripe and tend to taste mild and buttery.
We used Olitalia olive oil for this garlicky pasta. “Olitalia believes all great cooking revolves around great oil. Olitalia is the #1 brand most used by chefs in Italy and is now available for home cooking in the US. Look for Olitalia at Eataly locations.”
A few of the differences between European Extra Virgin Olive Oils.
- Spanish oil is typically golden yellow with a fruity, nutty flavor.
- Italian olive oil is often dark green and has an herbal aroma and a grassy flavor.
- Greek olive oil packs a strong flavor and aroma and tends to be green.
- French oil is typically pale in color and has a mild flavor.
A few of our other favorite pasta dishes.
- Beefy, Cheesy, Basil Pasta Bake. I love this dish so much. It’s so comforting and cheesy and delicious.
- Spanish Cacio e Pepe. This pasta is similar to this garlic pasta, super delicious but with cheese, YUM.
