It’s Game Day! Well, in reality, any Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday in the fall is Game Day. Therefore you have plenty of days in the week to make these Naan Pizza Dippers as your Game Day snacks! I picked up these Stonefire Naan Dippers at Kroger with the intention of just using them with a premade dip for a party. While that’s usually all fine and dandy, I decided they would be way better served as little mini pizzas. We don’t have the biggest selection of pizza sauces at our grocery stores in Columbus but I was pleased to find a “local” selection with La Rosa’s. It’s a bit on the sweet side, so I wouldWe spooned sauce on about half of them and just put toppings on the other half of the dippers. If you are making these Game Day snacks at a party, I would suggest leaving the sauce off of them because they get a bit crispier and stand up better for sitting out at a party. You can, of course, use shredded mozzarella but we had sliced mozzarella on hand and it worked just as well! The really important part when making any mini size Game Day snacks like these is to not add too much to the carb. If you over sauce or over cheese the naan bread, they won’t be as yummy. Proportionate ingredients are always important. I don’t eat pork (as you probably know) but I still love the smokiness of pepperoni so I swapped it out for a turkey version instead. If you really want to class it up, you could even use the wonderfully delicious salamis from North Country Charcuterie. You could also be like The Beard and add all the meats (salami, pepperoni, adn ham) to your Game Day snacks. I mean whatever, it’s all delicious. I wanted to add a little heat to mine so I tossed on a few pickled jalapenos too! These little dippers remind me a lot of bagel bites and I don’t hate it. But, when you add freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano, I think it takes the class factor up a little bit. Yum, nice and crispy! If you leave the sauce off the naan bread, it will get crispier faster and if you layer it on first, the bread will stay softer. I personally liked it both ways but the version without the sauce is probably better for a party because it can sit out a little bit longer and won’t get soggy. Yum, that little addition of parm makes for a nice little salty crunch that is perfect. Serve alongside some of the pizza sauce either warmed up or at room temperature and be ready to devour them. I also tossed some Penzey’s Frozen Pizza Seasoning on there to take these Game Day snacks to the next level. Let me know what toppings you use in the comments!
