This slaw for fish tacos is made with cabbage and no mayo! It’s on top of delicious air fryer tilapia and made in less than 30 minutes.
This wonderful fish taco red cabbage slaw recipe is brought to you by Hannah not paying attention to partnership guidelines. We were working with the lovely Gorton’s Seafood folks and I got so excited about the project that I didn’t read the product scope – oops. I had all but finished this post when they gently reminded me that this was not the focus product, rather it was the beer battered fish fillets that we made into little sandwiches!
But, I couldn’t just let a good recipe go to waste, especially when it’s one as delicious as air fried tilapia fish tacos with cabbage slaw!
Semi-Homemade Fish Tacos
We used the skillet crisp tilapia from Gorton’s Seafood and just tossed them in the air fryer, super easy. Seriously, this is a less than 30 minute meal, perfect for any weeknight dinner. Especially when the urge for fish tacos hits.
We love using fresh tortillas, you can find them in the refrigerated section of most large grocery stores. They taste amazing and give us more of a feeling of a semi-homemade dinner. You could easily swap for regular flour tortillas though, whatever makes your family happy.
Now for the best part of these fish tacos, the red cabbage slaw for the fish tacos!
Easy Slaw for Fish Tacos
I could eat this cabbage taco slaw everyday, all day. It is crunchy, flavorful, and so easy to make. It works so well on these fish tacos because the textures all work so well together! The tortillas are soft, the tilapia is flaky, and this slaw is full of crunch. We used jalapeno in the slaw, but we removed the seeds so you just get all the yummy flavor without needing to chug water afterwards.
You could also prep this no mayo red cabbage slaw earlier in the day or the day prior for a little bit of meal prep. It will still stay crunchy and be just as delicious on your fish tacos. Since it’s a vinegar slaw, it doesn’t get soggy too quickly.Β
Serve your fish tacos + red cabbage slaw with some white rice and you’ve got dinner on the table! If you’re feeling really adventurous, you could even add a spicy margarita to the mix for a nice little adult oriented beverage. I mean, you did make dinner, you deserve it.Β
