This deviled egg salad is super easy to make and really delicious! It just has 4 ingredients and can be enjoyed with just a fork or as a sandwich on a roll or bread.
I love deviled eggs so much. Fun fact, I’ve entered the deviled egg contest at the Ohio State Fair for three years in a row! I’ve won third place and most visually appealing. Honestly, that last one was the best prize.
But, this isn’t a recipe for plain ol’ deviled eggs. However, I do have a recipe for those right over here.
But, this recipe is for a deviled egg salad and it’s just delightful. I know you will love it.
How to make deviled egg salad.
Okay, it’s super easy to make this recipe and it’s only four ingredients! So let’s talk about those ingredients first.
- Eggs. Well, obviously, right? You’ll need some hard boiled eggs which you can prepare ahead of time or right before you make this dish.
- Mayo. I am team Hellman’s mayo. Sorry not sorry but Miracle Whip is gross. Please don’t get mad at me. Also, Duke’s is incredible but I have a hard time finding it in Ohio.
- Paprika. I was heavy handed with the paprika in this egg salad, hence the deviled title. I love the smokiness of this spice, but you can use less if it’s not your favorite.
- Ground Mustard. I opted for ground mustard instead of traditional yellow mustard because I didn’t want to make this egg salad too liquidy because I don’t like that texture.
See? Super easy ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen. Now, how to use them.
- Chop the eggs. Well, remove those shells first. Nobody wants egg shells in their dish. Working hard to teach my 3 year old that lesson while cracking eggs. I did a rough chop but you could make the chunks as big or as small as you’d like.
- Add the mayo. You only need 1/4 cup of mayo for this salad. Again, I don’t like really liquidy egg salad so feel free to add a little more if that’s more your style.
- Add the spices. The paprika and ground mustard make this egg salad extra delicious. Also add some salt and pepper for good measure too.
- Stir and enjoy. Use a rubber spatula to gently mix everything together. Be careful not to smoosh anything too much because you want the pieces to still be there and not be a mush mess.
How do you store egg salad?
Wait, you mean you don’t eat this egg salad all in one sitting? Kidding, kidding. Mayo-based salads are super easy to store!
First, store this in the fridge. Nothing is more icky than leaving a mayo based salad like this egg dish out at room temperature or worse, outside on a hot day! That is a recipe for food poisoning.
This recipe makes about 3-4 cups of egg salad. I didn’t totally measure but that seems right. You can store in a glass or plastic container but I do have a personal favorite.
These Snapware glass containers are the best. We actually bought them at Costco when they were on sale but you can find them on Amazon, here.
You can store this deviled egg salad in one of the large containers or do a few small ones to enjoy as an easy lunch.
