Our friends over at Double Comfort sent us one of the best deliveries ever, a Bloody Mary kit! You might remember Double Comfort as a recipe in Downtown Columbus thst had some killer fried chicken. In addition to the tasty food, they also had a mission of giving back to the community.
Although their restaurant might be closed, Double Comfort is still committed to giving back, specifically to nearby hunger relief charities. In fact, all profits from their Double Comfort Hot Sauces and Soul of the South spice blend go to hunger-relief charities.
While their spice blend can be used for a variety of awesome recipes, we are whipping up a delicious cocktail with the Soul of the South on the rim. This Bloody Memphis is their version of a Bloody Mary and it is quite delicious.
Choose a thin, tall glass and gently rim the glass in lemon juice followed by Soul of the South spice blend. Make sure you really move the glass around to get it nice and coated on top.
I didn’t put the prep work in this post because it wasn’t as beautiful but you’ll need to make the Bloody Memphis mix for this cocktail. It’s super easy but you will need some ingredients you might not have on hand. Specifically, their recipe calls for Demitri’s Horseradish Bloody Mary Mix which you can find here and here.
The lemon cordial is just lemon juice and salt water which is super easy to make! Also, if you are wondering, this adorable glass is from my Grandma. I always loved them growing up and she gifted me a few last year. We also have some Muppets ones too! I’m pretty sure they are Pepsi collector glasses from the 1970’s & 1980’s and I just think they are the cutest.
Okay, now for the best part of the Bloody Memphis, the booze! This recipe calls for vodka but if you want to make a Memphis Maria, you just swap for tequila. I’ll definitely do that next time around because I’m a fan of tequila over vodka any day.
Also, you should always use a jigger when making cocktails. You can get away with not measuring in cooking but with cocktails, you want all the measurements to be precise. I’m sure we’ve all had too boozy or too flat cocktails but measuring keeps everything balanced!
Now for my second favorite part of a Bloody Mary, the heat! Double Comfort also makes hot sauces and they are super yummy and pretty spicy. If you are falling in love with their ingredients, you can purchase them online here or find them at local Columbus shops like Weilands’s, The Hills Market, Jungle Jim’s, and local farmers markets!
Okay, but my really favorite part of a Bloody Mary is the garnish! I may or may not order them at restaurants for all the goodies that come on top. We didn’t go crazy this time around and just opted for some Digiorno Pizza Buns. Which for the record are literally so delicious. What are you putting on your Double Comfort Bloody Memphis?
