If there was one meal I could recreate over and over again from Disney World, it would be our California Grill Brunch. This was one of our last meals on the Disney Dining Plan and probably one of the best options for it. It’s a bit pricy for brunch on your own but seriously worth every single penny. We started with some cappuccinos but they also have a variety of brunch cocktails and even a children’s “sparkling mimosa.”
This California Grill brunch is equal parts food for the table, a brunch buffet and a full entree ordered off the menu. Since buffets aren’t the prettiest pictures, we didn’t take too many of those but just know that they have options like fresh sushi, a bacon and egg salad, deviled eggs and house-made charcuterie. This ain’t your normal $9.99 all you can eat buffet, friends. For the entree selection, my eyes were set on the Eggs Benedict with butter-poached Maine Lobster.
The Beard decided on the Grilled Hanger Steak topped with chimichurri and a charred red onion on a bed of marble potato hash. Seriously, mouth watering. I mean hey, you need some protein before you embark on a day of Disney, right?
We opted for a third entree because a) we could and b) I seriously had to try these pancakes. The blueberry pancakes feature local blueberries, vanilla custard, a blueberry compote and warm Canadian maple syrup. They are DIVINE. I’m pretty sure Baby O loved these just as much as I did, even with just four teeth.
Last but not least, after you enjoy a plethora of goodies from the buffet and your entrees, they bring this magical selection of treats to your table! Macarons, chocolate bark, freshly baked breads and thumbprints cookies. Oh, and beautiful homemade chocolate truffles. Literally, why isn’t everything like Disney World? The world would be a happier place.
I also haven’t mention yet that the other thing making this brunch so amazing is the location and the view. California Grill is located at the very top of the Contemporary Resort which is within walking distance to Magic Kingdom!
