They have multiple locations! They are mostly in Ohio, but also have one in Sarasota, FL, and one in Middlebury, IN. You can view all locations here on their website.
I have personally been to the Plain City location the most! These restaurants are HUGE and perfect for large groups or just your close family.
For the most part, each location is open Monday-Thursday from 7:00AM – 7:00PM, Friday-Saturday from 7:00AM – 8:00PM and CLOSED on Sundays. The location hours will vary though so be sure to check the specific one you are visiting to make sure it is open when you’ll be arriving.
The Famous Breakfast and Dinner Buffets at Der Dutchman
The answer is everything… and you can! Der Dutchman is known for their awesome buffets featuring homemade Amish favorites. They have a breakfast buffet and a dinner buffet. Both are truly delightful and extremely affordable.
The breakfast buffet is served Monday – Saturday open until 10:30AM. It’s $12.49 for adults, $5.99 for children ages 3-5, $8.99 for ages 6-10, and kids under 2 are free.
The breakfast buffet is an all you can eat dining experience that features Amish Country favorites like fried mush, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, french toast, grits, fruit slush, yogurt, fresh fruit, and fresh pastries. You can also order straight from the menu if you want something specific or items that aren’t on the buffet like an omelet!
While we didn’t visit for dinner on our latest visit, I’ve been multiple times before and let’s just say that broasted chicken is a dish I would happily eat every day.
The dinner buffet kicks off after breakfast is over and is available until Der Dutchman closes for the night. The cost is $16.99 for adults, $6.99 for ages 3-5, and $8.99 for ages 6-10. You can also opt for just the salad bar for a lower price!
Again note that some prices may vary between locations, so check the website ahead of time for your specific location.
The Incredible Bakery Just Inside of Der Dutchman
It’s amazing! We went on a Saturday morning and the long was all the way out the door! Folks had their hands full with freshly made cinnamon rolls, buckeyes, cookies, pecan rolls, and donuts.
My mom is a huge fan of their delicious pies, especially banana cream pie. YUM. If you don’t want to wait in line, you can actually order ahead of time for carryout on their website or through DoorDash.
Der Dutchman also offers great options if you are looking to feed a crowd. I personally think no one would be upset if you brought a few dozen Der Dutchman donuts to the next office meeting! You can check out all their catering options here.
I also found out that the Der Dutchman in Plain City, Ohio has a great coffee bar! It had a substantially shorter line than the dessert line and I may have snuck in a cinnamon roll while ordering my iced caramel drink.
We always love our visits to Der Dutchman! I’d love to visit one of their locations in Amish Country and maybe stay at one of the inns. It’s definitely an affordable, delicious, and fun experience that the whole family can enjoy. Be sure to follow us on Instagram where we shared some videos of our latest visit!
