Whether you are an experienced camper or a first-timer, the Dayton KOA Holiday in Ohio offers an unmatched camping experience. Nestled in the beautiful landscape of Ohio, the campsite is a quintessential blend of recreation, relaxation, and nature’s beauty. Let’s explore what makes this KOA location the perfect outdoor getaway.
We had SO much fun over Father’s Day weekend, which was an excellent weekend to visit and enjoy some of their planned activities to celebrate Joel. This was also our first camping adventure as a family and spoiler, it was awesome. I grew up camping but the rest of our family had never been, including Joel (!), and it was wonderful to have these fun experiences together.
Location and Distance from Columbus
The Dayton KOA Holiday is located in the charming city of Brookville, Ohio which is just outside of Dayton. It is approximately 70 miles west of Columbus, Ohio. This drive will take you roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes via I-70 W, making it an accessible destination for those seeking a weekend escape from the city’s hustle and bustle.
The official address is 7796 Wellbaum Road Brookville, OH 45309 and it’s located just off the highway. It’s definitely an easy drive from Columbus, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and Louisville or a great place to stop if you are making a cross country road trip!
Accommodations and Pricing
Dayton KOA Holiday offers a range of accommodation options to cater to diverse needs and budgets. The park is thoughtfully designed to ensure a comfortable and fun camping experience. We opted for tent camping and had a great location near the back of the KOA. It was technically an “RV” spot but there are “tent specific” locations around the site.
Tent Camping: For traditional campers, Dayton KOA provides well-maintained tent sites with prices ranging from $30 to $60 per night. Each site comes equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring, perfect for marshmallow roasting and campfire tales. They have options for no electric or water on the cheaper side or you can get electric and water for a higher fee per night.
RV Camping: For those who love the comfort of their RV, the campground has Full Hookup and Partial Hookup sites, available from $60 to $120 per night. The Full Hookup sites feature both 30 and 50-amp service, sewer, water, and cable TV. I’m not an RV expert but you can see all the details here!
Camping Cabins: If you prefer a more luxurious camping experience, try one of their Deluxe Cabins or Camping Cabins, priced from $150 to $220 per night. These cabins come with various amenities like a private bathroom, kitchen, and, in some cases, a spacious living area. These do book up fast so I’d plan ahead if you’d like one of the cabins!
Note: Prices may vary depending on the season and availability. It’s best to check the KOA website or call directly for the most accurate pricing and booking details. If you become a member of KOA rewards, you save 10% off your booking!
Since we camped, we didn’t have showers or bathrooms except for the ones for the whole campground. They were super clean, safe, and just a quick 2 minute walk from our tent site. There is also a communal grill if you want to cook something for you and your family.
Activities + Food
At Dayton KOA, the fun never stops. There are a variety of activities available that cater to all ages. I mentioned that we were there during Father’s Day weekend so they had some extra fun activities including a free beer tasting, DIY beer koozies + keychains ($2), bingo, and more! There are themed weekends throughout the year, you can read about them here.
Outdoor Activities: Enjoy a refreshing dip in the pool, or take on a fishing challenge in the well-stocked fishing pond. The campground also has a basketball court, horseshoes, a playground, paddle boats, bike rentals, and more. We obviously had to take advantage of the gem mining too!
Indoor Activities: This KOA doesn’t have a big indoor area but they do have a covered shelter! This is where they hosted the beer tasting and crafts. You could easily play some board games or a game of cards here with your crew.
Food Options: If you get a little hungry when you’re camping, they have a few options for meals and desserts. In the camp store, you can get some snacks or any small food items to cook at your campsite – great if you forget stuff for s’mores! If you pop by the cafe, you can order pizza or ice cream and on the weekends, you can enjoy a pancake breakfast. You can see the cafe hours here on their website.
Nearby Attractions: If you wish to explore beyond the campground, Dayton KOA is conveniently located near some popular attractions. Visit the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, Carillon Historical Park, or SunWatch Indian Village for an educational and fun day out. We went to the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery and the Cincinnati Museum which were awesome!
Dayton KOA Holiday, with its excellent amenities and varied activity offerings, is an ideal camping destination for all. It was super approachable for us being first time campers and we loved all the activities. So, pack your bags and gear up for an exciting adventure at Dayton KOA Holiday!
