Purina® Dog Chow® + Other Treats at Dollar General

I love dollar stores and judging from Instagram messages, you all have a love for them too! Dollar General is my go-to for party favors, decorations, and fun games for Baby O. But, did you know you can also stock up on goodies for your well deserving four legged friend too? 

We picked up this 20 lb Purina® Dog Chow® for Herbert, along with some other fun things for him because he deserves a new toy every now and then. Especially because I’m pretty sure he’s not over us bringing Baby O home from the hospital. 

Herbert is a white dachshund and actually comes from a family of show dogs! He’s a giant snuggle monster, loves to burrow, and loves to eat. I’d definitely say those are his top three hobbies. Although he likes to nap … even currently while sitting next to me … he needs to stay strong for those puppy bursts of energy he gets everyday. He just had his vet checkup and they said he’s the healthiest and peppiest 12 year old dog they’ve seen! 

Obviously, Herbert is a super important part of our big family but there is something that makes our family a little extra special. We have a ton of military in our family that makes me love to support American proud brands like Purina® Dog Chow®. 

My father was actually deployed when I was in middle school so anything that supports military families just hits me right in the heart. Don’t get me started on the videos of dogs (or kids) seeing their veteran owners (parents) for the first time, BRB while I sob loudly watching YouTube. 

Funny story about some other wonderful veterans in my family. My grandfather, who served in the Vietnam War, lives in the country in Southern Indiana and there was no shortage of dogs in their home. Every so often, people would just “drop off” dogs on their property and I’m still not sure if it was a trick that my dad and his siblings played on my grandparents or if the townsfolk just knew they’d take care of the dog. Most recently, they had a dog named “Sunday” because, you guessed it, it was dropped off on a Sunday. I can’t make this up. 

Obviously, we talk about all the food we love here on our blog but we don’t always share what Herbert is eating! Okay, so sometimes he eats what we eat or what Baby O drops off her highchair. Whoops. 

But, we also love to feed him Purina® Dog Chow® because it’s crafted in the USA and is made with beef, lamb, and American-Raised Chicken. Herbert is 12 years old so we want to make sure that he’s definitely getting a balanced diet that is vital for adult dogs to live long, happy, and healthy lives.
