Columbus no longer has to wait for the best convenience store + gas station around because Sheetz is now open! The first Columbus location is in Delaware, about 30 miles from Downtown.
I hope I’m not the only one who is giddy excited that Columbus is getting their very own Sheetz! Well, I should say the first of many Sheetz.
According to President and COO, Travis Sheetz, they plan to have 50 locations in Columbus in the next 5 years. My insider information is telling me there might be 10-12 by the end of 2021.
If you’ve never been to Sheetz before, let’s walk through (literally and figuratively) this unique convenience store.
Sheetz was founded in 1952 by Bob Sheetz and since then has been a family run business. Open 24 hours, Sheetz is there for road trips, breakfast, lottery runs, and everything in between.
Sheetz has all the items you’d need in a convenience store like milk, candy, beer, beef jerky, etc. Plus, it’s like very pretty. I’m honestly a sucker for good shopping aesthetic and Sheetz delivers on that one.
It makes buying my scratch offs and Diet Coke way more exciting.
When talking to Travis Sheetz (President + COO), his eyes lit up when talking about “his people.” The employees who work at Sheetz are appreciated and passionate which makes the customer experience even better.
But, if you want to avoid the chit-chat that comes with enthusiastic employees, Sheetz has several other shopping options! You can do self-checkout, which I’m all about. Columbus will be the only market to ALL have self-checkout which is pretty cool.
This Sheetz location in Delaware will also have Sheetz Go which is super cool. You use your phone to scan the items you want to purchase and bag them as you shop. Then, you pay on your phone and out the door you go!
If you are anxious about Sheetz Go because you will look like you’re stealing, don’t worry! The employees working get a notification every time you scan an item.
Okay, so everything at Sheetz is pretty awesome. But, the food is the real deal and what I’ve always enjoyed about visiting them in Pittsburgh.
You can order via their app (and become a Sheetz Freakz!) or at the mobile kiosks in the store. They also have a drive thru which is so convenient for this mama.
Sheetz offers a full menu of appetizers, breakfast, lunch, and dinner entrees, beverages, coffee drinks, and desserts! There is something for everyone here.
Of course I had to try the coffee. Their ordering system makes it super simple to customize your caffeinated beverage. I got an iced vanilla latte and an iced marshmallow latte (why not) and they were both delicious and not too sweet.
This location in Delaware, Ohio is also pretty awesome because it has designated seating area inside. I could totally see folks grabbing coffee and doing some work here, myself included!
The app sampler is definitely a family favorite because you get 3 items for just $5. The cheese curds should definitely be in that bucket, they are delicious.
Plus, they have some incredible sauces and of course I had to try them all. My two favorites were the Boom Boom Sauce and the Dr. Pepper BBQ Dip – so delicious. I can’t wait to go back and get them again.
This right here is the breakfast of champions. If you try anything at Sheetz here in Columbus, it has to be the Nashville hot chicken waffle sandwich. Don’t forget the syrup, it makes it sweet and spicy and so so good.
You can see the full menu for each Sheetz location here on their website.
The first Columbus Sheetz is now open located at 710 Sunbury Rd, Delaware, Ohio. We can’t wait til the next 49 open!
